   Korean definition: 지구에서 물로 된 부분이 아닌 흙이나 돌로 된 부분.

   • 많은 짐을 실은 화물선이 육지에 정박하자 사람들은 짐을 옮기기 위해 움직이기 시작했다.

     When the cargo ship loaded with goods docked at land, people began moving to unload the cargo.

   • 식물은 물이 없으면 살 수 없지만 그렇다고 육지 식물들이 물속에서 살 수 있는 것은 아니다.

     Plants can't live without water, but that doesn't mean land plants can live underwater.

   The land connected to a continent, not an island.

   Korean definition: 섬이 아닌, 대륙에 이어진 땅.

   • 큰 해일이 몰려온다는 소식을 들은 섬사람들은 섬에서 나와 육지로 모두 피신해 있었다.

     Hearing that a huge tidal wave was coming, the islanders all left the island and took refuge on the mainland.

   • 그 섬은 육지에서 가까워 배를 타고 찾아가는 사람들이 많다.

     That island is close to the mainland, so many people visit it by boat.
