   twist

   To twist and turn one’s body or part of one’s body in another direction.

   Korean definition: 몸이나 몸 한 부분의 방향을 꼬아 돌리다.

   • 지수는 고개를 틀어 나를 쳐다보았다.

     Jisu twisted her head and looked at me.

   • 여자는 몸을 꽈배기처럼 틀고 요가를 하고 있었다.

     The woman was doing yoga, twisting her body like a twisted doughnut.

   twist

   To turn a screw, faucet, knob, etc.

   Korean definition: 나사나 꼭지, 손잡이 등을 돌리다.

   • 나는 수도꼭지를 틀어 손을 씻었다.

     I turned the faucet and washed my hands.

   • 어머니는 저녁 준비를 하시려고 가스레인지의 밸브를 틀었다.

     Mother turned the valve on the gas stove to prepare dinner.

   turn

   To operate a device such as a water tap, making water run.

   Korean definition: 수도와 같은 장치를 작동시켜 물이 나오게 하다.

   • 어머니는 물을 틀어 설거지를 하셨다.

     Mother turned on the water and did the dishes.

   • 나는 샤워 꼭지를 돌려서 물을 틀고 쏟아지는 물을 맞았다.

     I turned the shower head to run the water and stood under the pouring stream.

   turn on

   To operate a machine or device.

   Korean definition: 기계나 장치를 작동시키다.

   • 에어컨을 틀지 않고는 견딜 수 없을 만큼 날씨가 더웠다.

     It was so hot that I couldn't stand it without turning on the air conditioner.

   • 텔레비전을 크게 틀어 놓아서 아버지의 말씀이 잘 안 들렸다.

     The TV was turned on so loud that I couldn't hear what my father said.
