   rather

   An adverb used to indicate that one prefers a certain option, when other available options are less appealing.

   Korean definition: 대비되는 여러 가지 사실이 모두 마음에 들지 않지만, 그래도 이리하는 것이 나음을 나타내는 말.

   • 밥을 혼자 먹느니 차라리 안 먹는 게 낫겠어.

     I'd rather not eat than eat alone.

   • 다 찢어진 그런 우산을 쓸 바엔 차라리 안 쓰고 만다.

     I'd rather go without than use an umbrella that's all torn like that.
