   Korean definition: 물체를 구부려 펴지지 않게 하거나 부러뜨리다.

   • 장미꽃을 꺾어다가 꽃병에 꽂으니 예쁘다.

     I picked some roses and put them in a vase, and they look pretty.

   • 나뭇가지를 꺾다가 선생님께 꾸중을 들었다.

     I got scolded by the teacher for breaking off tree branches.

   bend

   To bend or fold an object.

   Korean definition: 물체를 구부리거나 굽히다.

   • 철사를 꺾어서 네모를 만드세요.

     Bend the wire to make a square.

   • 나는 다림질을 하기 위해 와이셔츠의 솔기를 꺾었다.

     I folded the seams of the dress shirt in order to iron it.

   To bend or fold a body part.

   Korean definition: 몸의 일부분을 구부리거나 굽히다.

   • 군인들은 머리 위로 팔을 꺾어 경례를 하였다.

     The soldiers bent their arms up to their heads and saluted.

   • 후배들이 선배에게 허리를 꺾어 정중하게 인사를 하였다.

     The juniors bowed deeply at the waist and greeted their senior politely.

   To suppress or remove a thought, energy, etc.

   Korean definition: 생각이나 기운 등을 억누르거나 없애다.

   • 우리 집에서 유일하게 아버지만이 형의 고집을 꺾을 수 있다.

     In our house, only my father can break my older brother's stubbornness.

   • 유학 가겠다는 아들의 의지를 꺾으니 아들은 아무것도 하려 하지 않는다.

     Since his will to study abroad was crushed, the son won't try to do anything.
